WEEKEND TV : New Year’s Eve Specials Set to Welcome ’96

The last weekend of 1995 promises to ring in the new year.

The festivities begin Sunday at 7 p.m., when Tia and Tamera Mowry (“Sister, Sister”) host the “New Year’s Eve Bash With the Animaniacs,” on KTLA-TV Channel 5.

“Nick New Year’s Eve” features a five-hour broadcast from Orlando, Fla. Lori Beth Deneberg (“All That”) and Mike Marona (“The Adventures of Pete & Pete”) are the hosts, with guest Linda Ellerbee, Sunday at 8 p.m. on Nickelodeon.

At 11 p.m., check out “New Year’s Live!” on KCAL-TV Channel 9, “New Year’s in Vegas” on KTTV-TV Channel 11 or “Guy Lombardo and His Royal Canadians” on KOCE-TV Channel 50.

NBC will offer “New Year’s Eve With ‘Friday Night,’ ” at 11:30 p.m. on Channels 4 and 36.

ABC joins Dick Clark in New York’s Times Square with “New Year’s Rockin’ Eve ‘96,” at 11:30 p.m. on Channels 7, 3 and 42.

Harmonic voices converge as Boyz II Men sing on “New Year’s Eve Coast-to-Coast at Universal Studios,” at 11:30 p.m. on KCOP-TV Channel 13.

Montel Williams, Louis Mandylor and Paige Turco host “Happy New Year, America 1996,” at 11:35 p.m. on CBS (Channel 2).

For parade lovers, Mariska Hargitay and Pat O’Brien host “The Fiesta Bowl Parade” from Phoenix, today at noon on Channel 2.

On Sunday, there’s the “King Orange Jamboree Parade,” at 8 p.m. on Channel 2.
