Somehow, San Diego Rancho Buena Vista found a way to squeeze out an 81-77 victory over Brea Olinda Saturday.

The Longhorns did it without leading scorer Jamahl Mosley. They did it in Brea Olinda’s gym, in the final of the Wildcats’ own tournament.

Three Longhorns made two free throws in the final 1 minute 38 seconds of overtime to end the Wildcats’ 11-game winning streak. When John Heredia’s three-point attempt rolled off the rim with two seconds left, Brea Olinda was out of chances. Keith Stoner’s two free throws clinched it.

Brea Olinda had opportunities throughout. The Wildcats (12-2) built five-point leads in the second and third quarters. Both times Mosley brought the Longhorns (10-2) back.

Mosley finished with 27 points and 18 rebounds. His layup with 4:37 left in regulation gave the Longhorns a 65-62 lead. But when he landed, his knee buckled and he left the game for good.

The Longhorns had only four field goals--none in overtime--after Mosley left. But they made eight of 10 free throws.

Sean Wink (24 points) scored Brea Olinda’s last five points in regulation, including a jumper and free throw to tie the score, 73-73, with a minute left.

Both teams had chances to win at the end of regulation, but the Longhorns’ Keith Stoner turned the ball over with 28 seconds left. Then Matt Bodiford’s three-point attempt rolled off the rim with one second left.

Mosley was yanked from the game early in the second quarter, which led to an argument between Mosley and Coach John O’Neill on the bench. Brea Olinda center Eric Repp (19 points) made the most of the Mosley’s absence, scoring five consecutive points. But Mosley returned, scoring on back-to-back layups. He had 13 points and seven rebounds at halftime. He made nine consecutive shots before leaving in the fourth quarter.
