City Section Seeks Investigation of Dorsey Grade-Changing Charge

Barbara Fiege, City Section director of athletics, said Thursday she will ask administrators at Dorsey High to investigate the school’s basketball program.
Fiege said she wants the officials to look into allegations outlined in Thursday’s Times and report back to her in time for a City Section rules committee meeting Jan 18.
The Times reported that a Dorsey teacher has complained to school administrators that Kevin Gibson, the basketball coach, asked him to change a grade for one of his players. The story also said several questionable grade changes were made for the same player after the grading deadline had passed.
Gibson has denied any wrongdoing. James Alther, Dorsey’s assistant principal in charge of athletics, has said that an investigation was already under way.
