Sunshine, Brief Fog in Week’s Forecast

Share

Expect sunny and pleasant weather--save for some fog and clouds Tuesday and Wednesday--in the San Fernando Valley this week, according to forecasts by the National Weather Service.

“It looks like a pretty good week coming up,” said spokesman Bob Cari.

Offshore winds blowing toward the ocean since Friday have cleared the air, but those winds--which hit 20 mph in passes and canyons--are expected to subside Tuesday, giving way to onshore winds that will bring fog and clouds.

No rain is expected, continuing a dry pattern for Southern California this season.

“We’re below what we usually are at this time of the year,” Cari said. Since July, Los Angeles has received 1.45 inches of rain, compared to an average of 5.48 inches for this time, Cari said.

The rain-free skies are caused by a large high-pressure system that is expected to hover over Southern California until Friday or Saturday. But a jet stream stretching across the Pacific Northwest has brought more storm activity into Northern California, Oregon and Washington.

Today’s high temperatures are forecast to be 78 in Van Nuys, 76 in Northridge, 78 in Burbank and 81 in Woodland Hills.
