Long Beach State Defeats UC Irvine
Kim Barfield and Ja’net Davis scored 20 points each as Long Beach State beat UC Irvine, 78-65, in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday at Irvine.
Michelle Esparza added 16 for Long Beach State, which outscored UC Irvine, 38-25, in the second half after the teams were tied, 40-40, at the break.
Leticia Oseguera had 19 points and 10 rebounds for UC Irvine (6-7, 1-3). Long Beach is 5-5, 2-1.
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Cal State Los Angeles 73, Chapman 59--Likieya Coachman scored 24 points to lead CS Los Angeles past host Chapman. Teammate Stacy Rhome scored 18 points and Dawn Motz had 16 points for CS Los Angeles.
Monique Sweet scored 16 points for Chapman.
