PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : Faulk Out of Sunday’s Game
The Indianapolis Colts will play the Pittsburgh Steelers for the AFC championship without tailback Marshall Faulk, Coach Ted Marchibroda said.
Faulk had only one carry for 16 yards in the Colts’ first-round victory over San Diego. He had arthroscopic surgery to remove loose cartilage from his left knee last week and did not play in the Colts’ victory over Kansas City last Sunday.--Associated Press

Kordell Stewart, the Steelers’ do-everything offensive rookie from Colorado, apparently has not caused the Colt defense any concerns.
Cornerback Ray Buchanan said the team put in a package on Thursday to counteract Stewart, but Buchanan said, “He’s not that much of a factor. Vince [Tobin, defensive coordinator] just gave it to us simple, stupid. It’s like this we have a nice little package for him and we do have to be aware when he’s in the game, but the defenses that we have, he can only do so much against them.”
Stewart, a quarterback in college, has passed for a touchdown, run for a touchdown, caught a touchdown pass and has also worked as a punter. ‘I’d hate to think one guy could beat us,” Marchibroda said. “The Steelers have been getting a lot of mileage out of him, but if we get beat, it will be because the Steelers beat us.”
