How’s This for a Hat Trick?
There was the first triple dead heat for a win in California in 18 years when harness runners Paula’s Pride, Kiwi Loch and Easy Guess finished together in the 10th race Friday night at Los Alamitos.
Steve Warrington drove Paula’s Pride, the 5-2 favorite, while Rick Plano was the driver for Kiwi Loch and Chip Lackey handled Easy Guess.
The last triple dead heat for a victory in California came in a harness race at Bay Meadows on Jan. 11, 1978. The last triple dead heat in thoroughbred racing came in October 1991 at Belmont Park.
