Police arrested a teenager and are searching for a second person suspected of firing shots at a house early Monday, nearly wounding one of its occupants.

Sam and Teresa Escobar were at home in the 700 block of Las Lomas Drive just after midnight when they heard shots, one of which passed through a window and struck a wall a foot away from the woman’s head, Police Lt. Jerry Cline said.

Sam Escobar walked outside to see what was happening and saw a group of men walking east on Las Lomas Drive. “They turned around and fired three shots at him,” Cline said.

Teresa Escobar called 911 and officers arrived to find several young men matching the descriptions provided by the couple.

The men fled when they saw police officers, who then searched for the suspects.

Sean Michael Thornton, 19, of Hacienda Heights was arrested on suspicion of firing at an occupied dwelling and attempted murder.

A revolver was recovered, according to Cline.

Another suspect is still at large, Cline said.
