Los Amigos Beats La Quinta on Hernandez’s Shot
Violeta Hernandez’s three-pointer with 30 seconds left in the game proved to be the winning basket as Los Amigos beat La Quinta, 49-44, in a Garden Grove League girls’ basketball game Wednesday at Los Amigos.
Tofi Togogade had 16 points and 17 rebounds to lead Los Amigos (4-11, 2-6). Tiona Shun had 19 points for La Quinta (3-14, 1-7).
In other Garden Grove League games:
Garden Grove 38, Bolsa Grande 31--Sara Monsoor had 13 points and seven steals for Garden Grove (10-7, 5-3).
Pacifica 56, Rancho Alamitos 36--Heather Green scored 20 points and Jaymee Pendergast had 18 for visiting Pacifica (12-5, 8-0), which led after three quarters, 43-26.
In Pacific Coast League wrestling:
Laguna Hills, Aliso Niguel win both matches--Aliso Niguel’s Mike Lucero (145 pounds), Kevin Hadfield (152) and Scott Kron (160) had consecutive pins before Ryan Hurbon (215) sealed the 42-34 victory over Estancia with a pin in 1:05. Aliso Niguel defeated Costa Mesa, 78-6.
Nick Castillo (112), Thahn Nguyen (119), Kimball Walsh (125) and Manny Rocha (215) led Laguna Hills to a 48-22 victory over University and a 64-18 win over Estancia.
In the Sunset League:
Marina 42, Huntington Beach 30--Todd McKeown pinned Jon Zuckerman in 2:24 and Corey McKeown won a 17-2 decision over Charlie Myre for Marina.
