Cabrera’s Goals Two Much for Van Nuys

Carlos Cabrera scored two goals in the first half, including one in the first two minutes, to lead Sylmar High to a 4-1 boys’ soccer victory Thursday over Van Nuys in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match.

Ivan Campos and Ranferi Benitez added second-half goals for the Spartans (11-1-3, 9-1-2 in league play) who are unbeaten in their last five matches.

Agustin Pasalaqua scored for the Wolves.

Rio Mesa 4, Hueneme 0--Jaime Ambriz scored three goals for the Spartans (12-6-2, 6-6) in a Channel League match at Rio Mesa.

Ambriz, a junior striker, has four hat tricks this season. He has scored 24 goals in 16 matches.

Oak Park 7, Fillmore 2--Colin McDonnell had three goals and two assists for the Eagles (16-1-2, 9-1-1) in a Tri-Valley League match at Oak Park.

Moorpark 6, Nordhoff 0--Hugo Ramirez, Carl Manisco and Mike Antonacci each had a goal and an assist for the Musketeers (9-6-5, 4-4) in a Frontier League match at Moorpark.

Kennedy 7, Reseda 0--Nikki Hagouel and Nicole Goldberg each scored two goals in a League C match at Reseda.

Quartz Hill 6, Littlerock 0--Yvonne Ayala and Shauna Murray each scored two goals for the Rebels (12-2-2, 8-0) in a Golden League match at Littlerock.

Buena 2, San Marcos 1--Krista Janik and Kristina Quiroz scored for the Bulldogs (14-4-3, 11-0-1) in a Channel League match.
