Murphy Beats Cold and Field
Bob Murphy, withstanding 30 mph gusts and wind-chill temperatures in the 40s, shot a four-under-par 67 at Key Biscayne, Fla., Sunday for a four-stroke victory in the Royal Caribbean Classic, the year’s first full-field Senior PGA tournament.
He finished at 10-under 203 for 54 holes to easily beat Hale Irwin, who closed with a 71 for a 207. Murphy earned $127,500 for his ninth Senior Tour win since joining the circuit in 1993.

In Perth, Australia, Ian Woosnam of Wales birdied the par-5 18th hole for an even-par round of 72 and an 11-under-par total of 277 to earn a one-stroke victory in the $750,000 Heineken Classic over Jean van de Velde of France and Ireland’s Paul McGinley.
