A Moorpark woman and her pregnant passenger suffered minor injuries after a truck swerved across Somis Road and slammed into their car, the California Highway Patrol said Monday.

Investigators are searching for the driver of the pickup truck, who fled the scene on foot after the crash Sunday evening.

“We have an idea who it is, but we don’t know for sure,” Officer Tim Wilson said. “We’re still investigating.”

Wilson said Brigitte Nicholson, 46, of Moorpark, was traveling northbound on Somis Road just south of West Street about 7:15 p.m. Sunday. A pickup truck veered across the center line and struck the vehicle, he said.

Nicholson and her passenger, Jenifer Maclean, 25, of Simi Valley, who is five months pregnant, both suffered minor injuries, the CHP said. They were treated at St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital and later released, Wilson said.

Meanwhile, CHP and Sheriff’s Department officials launched a search for the driver of the truck, who is wanted on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

“He fled on foot,” Wilson said. “We had a helicopter out and canines out but they weren’t able to locate the driver.”

CHP officials impounded the vehicle as part of the ongoing investigation.
