Here’s an indication of how poorly the season has gone for the Boston Celtics: Their 110-97 victory over the Clippers on Wednesday night was their second in a row at home, matching their longest home winning streak of the season.

Greg Minor scored 20 points, Todd Day added 17 and Eric Montross had 15 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Celtics.

Boston led by 11 at the start of the fourth quarter and quickly stretched its advantage to 21 on a basket by Day that made it 105-84.

“It was nice to be able to get a team down and finally put them away. We usually sleepwalk for about five minutes every night and let the other team back in,” Celtic Coach M.L. Carr said.

Brian Williams led the Clippers with 19 points and Terry Dehere and Pooh Richardson added 15 each.

“Last night [a 105-88 victory over the Knicks in New York] we came out and defended well and we just didn’t do that tonight,” Dehere said.

The Clippers have lost eight of their last nine road games. To add insult to injury, Coach Bill Fitch was ejected with 4:13 left in the third quarter after being whistled for two technical fouls.

“I never feel like I can come back here, except when they kick me out like they did tonight,” said Fitch, who was coach of the Celtics from 1979 to 1983.

The Celtics made 22 of 38 shots from the field and 16 of 21 free throws while outrebounding the Clippers, 22-13, in the first half, which ended with Boston ahead, 63-59.

“We scored a lot of points in the first half, but it was a dangerous kind of game because they were hanging around,” Minor said.

Minor scored five of the team’s first 11 points to open the third quarter and Boston built the lead to 74-64 with 8:15 remaining in the period.

The Clippers cut the lead to 78-70 on a jump shot by Williams (19 points, seven rebounds) with 6:07 left in the third quarter, but with 4:13 on the clock Fitch was ejected after being whistled for a double technical. David Wesley made one of the two free throws and Boston had a 89-78 lead going to the final stanza.

“We’ve had a hard time playing well in back-to-back games this year,” Fitch said.

Coliseum Commission officials unveiled drawings of a proposed basketball facility that might replace the Sports Arena, which would be demolished to provide parking space. Coliseum manager Pat Lynch said the arena would be similar to the Pond of Anaheim. Construction experts are expected to give officials a cost estimate in the next week. . . . Terry Dehere has made at least one three-point shot in 24 consecutive games, a Clipper record.
