An Oxnard man was killed and two people riding with him were seriously injured in a Los Angeles area traffic accident Thursday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Nicolas Ramirez-Arceo, 41, was traveling west on the San Bernardino Freeway in east Los Angeles about 4:15 a.m., when his pickup truck slammed into the rear of a big rig disabled on the freeway. Two of his passengers, Juan Lopez, 28, and Salvador Del Torro, 68, were hospitalized for their injuries.
A Highland Park resident was also killed in the chain-reaction accident that started when a Ford Escort made an unsafe lane change and plowed into the big rig, causing it to jackknife.
The investigation of the accident is continuing, according to the CHP.
