Coach: Steve White (25th year).
1995: 18-3, 10-0 in the Freeway League; lost to North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake in the Southern Sectino Division II quarterfinals.
Key returners: Tuji Chang, doubles, So.; John Choi, doubles, So.; Chris Chung, No. 2 singles, ranked 97th nationally in boys’ 16, Jr.; Jon Han, No. 1 singles, runner-up in the league tournament, Sr.; Shaun Harris, No. 1 doubles, Sr.; Joe Williamson, doubles, Sr.
Key newcomers: Shail Vyas, Nos. 2 or 3 doubles, Jr.; Raj Vyas, doubles, Fr.; Davin Lin, singles and doubles, Fr.
Outlook: The days of Sunny Hills dominating the Division II playoffs are over, but the Lancers will still be talented. “I think we’ll be in the top five,” White said. “We take some pride in the fact that we’re always in the hunt.” If White only had nationally-ranked juniors Kevin Kim and Joseph Gilbert back for their senior years. . . . “It’s our turn not to have the real superstars coming up,” White said. “You think about having Gilbert and Kim, but it’d be nice to have Ryan Moore too.” Moore, ranked 12th nationally in the boys’ 16, lives in Sunny Hills’ attendance area but attends Servite.
