A man was shot in the leg following a confrontation in the drive-through lane of a fast-food restaurant, and officers arrested a suspect who tried to elude them, authorities said Sunday.

Officers arrested Jamal Jesse Harb, 26, of Anaheim, in connection with the 2:30 a.m. shooting at the restaurant, at Valley View Street and Orangethorpe Avenue.

The bullet passed through Marc Frank Zavala’s leg and lodged in the other, Buena Park Police Sgt. Lloyd Schwengel said. Zavala was in stable condition at Anaheim Memorial Hospital.

Police said Harb and a friend were involved in a verbal argument with Zavala, who was standing in the drive-through line. “The suspect, while driving out, fired one shot at the victim,” said Schwengel.

The car headed south on Valley View, where La Palma police attempted to stop it for erratic driving, Schwengel said. “The suspect failed to yield and attempted to elude officers by turning out his lights in a residential area, but did finally yield.”

Police said they found a pistol in the car. Harb remained in custody at the Buena Park City Jail.
