Edie Wasserman, a major Hollywood player along with her husband, former MCA chairman Lew Wasserman, was in fair condition at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Wednesday recuperating from a “mild heart attack.” A hospital spokesman said she was showing “steady improvement” since the Sunday night attack. . . . MTV Networks on Wednesday announced a major multi-year deal with the award-winning independent animation studio Klasky Csupo Inc., expanding the partnership that has already produced Nickelodeon hits including “Rugrats.” In addition to Nickelodeon, the new deal will cover TV and feature film programming for MTV, VH1 and other Viacom-owned divisions including Paramount Television, Paramount Pictures and Showtime. . . . A Los Angeles woman identified only as “T.D.P.” has filed a negligence lawsuit against the estate of Eric “Eazy-E” Wright, who died of complications of AIDS a year ago, claiming the late rapper infected her with HIV. The Superior Court lawsuit claims that the woman dated Wright for four months in 1994, and discovered she had HIV three days before his death. . . . Opera superstar Luciano Pavarotti and his wife of 35 years, Adua Pavarotti, announced Wednesday they had separated--just weeks after the tenor admitted to an affair with his 26-year-old secretary.
