Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies on Tuesday asked for the public’s help in finding the killer of a Valinda man who was shot to death while driving home last year.

Martin S. Elizardo, 26, was attacked about 9 p.m. Aug. 6 in the 800 block of Grandview Lane, said Deputy Benita Nichol.

Elizardo was eastbound on Mulvane Street in a red pickup truck. The suspect was following him in a black vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet Camaro or Ford Thunderbird, she said.

“As Elizardo turned onto Grandview Lane, the suspect’s vehicle pulled in front of Elizardo’s truck, causing him to stop,” Nichol said. “The suspect then fired one shot at Elizardo, killing him.”

The suspect or suspects fled northbound on Grandview Lane, she said. The motive for the shooting is unknown.

The Elizardo family has offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the killer.

Anyone who has information about the crime should call sheriff’s deputies at (213) 526-5541.
