. . . The Irvine Co. was the top corporate contributor to state legislators in the nonelection year 1985, the Fair Political Practices Commission reported.
The company gave $182,000 to Democrats and Republicans, including $850 to state Sen. Marian Bergeson of Newport Beach. But “it is rare that we actually hear from them,” she said.
