Chapman Gets a Rare Loss in Softball

Share

The Chapman softball team suffered a rare loss to an NCAA Division III team, splitting with Buena Vista (Iowa) in a doubleheader Wednesday at Hart Park.

Chapman easily won the first game, 11-0, when Christy Guidorizzi pitched her third no-hitter of the season in a game shortened to five innings because of the mercy rule. But Buena Vista bounced back to win the second game, 4-2, becoming only the second Division III team to beat Chapman since the Panthers moved into the division last season.

Chapman, the defending Division III champion, is the top-ranked team in the nation and the West Region. Buena Vista is ranked fourth in the region.
