Hi Ho Silverheels Wins in a Track-Record Time
Heavily favored Hi Ho Silverheels won the $50,000 Pres Jenuine Pace in a track-record time of 1:51 1/5 Friday night at Los Alamitos, but it wasn’t easy.
The 5-year-old horse was challenged through the stretch by Distinguishedbaron, the longest shot in a field of six at 40-1, before winning by a length and three quarters. Falcon Dakota finished third, another seven and three-quarter lengths back.
From fourth place, Hi Ho Silverheels took the lead at the quarter pole with driver Rick Kuebler and led the rest of the way. Posting his seventh consecutive victory of the meet, he paid $2.10 to win and place. There was no show wagering.
Hi Ho Silverheels shared the previous track record of 1:51 2/5 with T.K.’s Skipper.
