Reward Offered for Clues to School Theft

Authorities are offering up to $1,000 in reward for information on who stole a computer system from Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks about a week ago.

Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said the system, which includes a color monitor, keyboard and processing unit, was stolen sometime between March 29 and April 3.

Sheriff’s Det. Greg Seeba said he suspects a student or students may be responsible because someone prevented the door to the school’s computer room from locking.

“It didn’t look like they broke in,” Seeba said.

“It looks like this was done by a student. There was some advance planning done.”

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the crime to call Ventura County Crime Stoppers at 494-8255. Callers may remain anonymous.

If the information leads to an arrest with a criminal complaint filed, the caller might be eligible for up to $1,000 in reward.
