May 1 Set for SoCal Edison Rate Reductions: Southern California Edison said that its previously approved $338-million, or 5.5%, rate decrease will go into effect May 1. Customers will also receive a one-time bill credit, applied to their June bills, totaling $237 million, because of lower fuel costs. Typical residential customers (using 500 kilowatt-hours per month) will see their monthly bills decrease to $63.35 from $65.60, and will receive a one-time credit of about $20 on their June bills. The reductions were approved by the state Public Utilities Commission earlier this year.
