Bicyclist, 14, Killed in Collision
A 14-year-old bicyclist was hit by a car and killed Thursday after he swerved into traffic, Los Angeles police said.
The boy, whose name was not released pending notification of relatives, was riding west on Parthenia Street near Columbus Avenue about 6:30 p.m. when he crossed all lanes of traffic and collided with the car, Sgt. Dale Turner said.
The boy, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown onto the car’s hood and suffered massive head injuries when he hit the windshield, said Los Angeles City Fire Department spokesman Brian Humphrey.
The driver of the car was not injured or arrested, police said.
