BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : Not Quite Nomo, Park Draws a Crowd
It was another circuslike pregame atmosphere, another international press corps milling around the Dodger Stadium field.
Chan Ho Park’s first career Dodger Stadium start Thursday drew 63 Korean-language reporters--three days after Hideo Nomo’s opening day start drew 109 Japanese media members.
Is this continuous heavy attention good for a ballclub?
“I think it’s good for us, I think it’s good for baseball,” Executive Vice President Fred Claire said. “It brings a lot of attention to the game worldwide, and I think it’s great.”
And if Park has success while filling in for the disabled Ramon Martinez, Claire said the Dodgers look forward to trying to fit six starters into a five-man rotation.
“That’s the problem I’m looking for,” Claire said, smiling, “that our starting staff is so strong that we can replace our opening day starter. That’s a problem we can handle.
“If that happens, somehow, some way, I will find a way to work with that.”

Left-handed reliever Scott Radinsky (tendinitis in his finger) was activated from the disabled list, and left-hander John Cummings was optioned to triple-A Albuquerque.
