Stars to Tee Off at Golf Benefit

Share

Let’s hope Bill Murray and Andy Garcia don’t turn up in shorts or a T-shirt.

Both stars are signed up to tee off in a celebrity charity golf tournament at Sherwood Country Club, the private club in Hidden Valley where the dress code is so restrictive that jeans, shorts and shirts without collars are not allowed.

The tournament, which is not open to the public, is to raise money for pediatric kidney disease, donor awareness and UCLA Children’s Hospital. It was organized by the Casey Lee Ball Foundation, started by music business executive Sterling Ball in his son’s name. Casey Ball, 8, was diagnosed with polycystic kidney disease, a terminal disease, when he was 2 years old.

Casey has already had one transplant to save his life, using one of his father’s kidneys. But that transplant will need to be replaced eventually.

The tournament will bring many movie and television stars to exclusive Hidden Valley. Those expected to attend include Randy Quaid, Joe Pesci, Robby Kreiger of The Doors, Melrose Place stars Thomas Calabro and Jack Wagner, Dweezil Zappa and CBS Sports commentator Terry Donahue.

In the past, the tournament has raised $250,000 for research. Sponsors include the Hard Rock Cafe, Ernie Ball Inc., Anheuser Busch and Coca-Cola.
