NHL scoring champion Mario Lemieux of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Wayne Gretzky of the St. Louis Blues, Eric Lindros of the Philadelphia Flyers and Paul Kariya of the Mighty Ducks are among the stars on Team Canada’s World Cup roster, which was announced Monday.

Blues’ winger Brett Hull, Buffalo Sabre center Pat LaFontaine, Winnipeg Jet left wing Keith Tkachuk, Chicago Blackhawk defensemen Chris Chelios and Gary Suter, and goaltenders Jim Carey of Washington, Mike Richter of the New York Rangers and John Vanbiesbrouck of the Florida Panthers head Team USA’s 26-player roster. The U.S. team’s assistant general manager will be Jack Ferreira, general manager of the Ducks.

Duck Coach Ron Wilson is expected to coach Team USA, but no announcement has been made.

The eight-nation World Cup tournament, which will be played Aug. 26 through Sept. 14, replaces the Canada Cup.
