Scully to Get Award of a Lifetime

Vin Scully will be honored with the Sports Lifetime Achievement Award when the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presents its sports Emmy Awards on Monday night.

The award honors sports broadcasters who have made outstanding career contributions to their profession. Among former recipients are Curt Gowdy, Jim McKay and Pat Summerall.

Scully began his broadcast career while he was still at Fordham University, doing baseball, basketball and football on the college radio station. Longtime voice of the Dodgers, both in Brooklyn and Los Angeles, Scully is in the baseball Hall of Fame.
