Officials Warn of Traffic Snarls From Pasadena Events

Share

If you’re heading to Pasadena on Sunday, think twice.

Everything from a Los Angeles Galaxy soccer game to a college graduation could produce a real traffic snarl, officials say.

“Depending on how large the soccer crowd is, there could be some traffic problems, especially if trying to go to one of the other events,” said Pasadena Police Cmdr. Mary Schander.

Among the events scheduled for the same afternoon:

It’s the last day of the Pasadena showcase of homes, the city’s annual golf tournament at Brookside Golf Course and a swim meet at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center, Schander said. On the rim of Arroyo Seco is the Museums of Arroyo tour at the Gamble House and a graduation ceremony at Pacific Oaks College.

And, Schander said, there are even a couple of wedding receptions at the Brookside clubhouse and a Mozart concert at a neighborhood church. There was going to be a dog show but it was canceled, she said.

Her message to soccer fans: come early and carpool. The golf tournament will mean that the course will not be available for parking as it has been when big crowds have appeared in the past, she said. In the event of a large turnout, drivers will be directed to park on surrounding streets, she said.

Those seeking to enjoy the offerings of the museum tour, which includes the Gamble House, Pasadena Historical Museum, Southwest Museum and Heritage Square, should consider parking in Old Town or on South Lake Avenue and riding the free Arts Bus to the vicinity of the Gamble House.
