Lotta Lettuce: Fetzer Vineyards is holding its third annual “Great Salad Toss” recipe contest, but you’re not required to cook with wine. Instead, you’ve got to use at least one of the following products in a salad recipe: Dole packaged salad greens, California Walnuts, DiGiorno Italian Cheese, Athenos Feta Cheese, Catham Village Croutons, Spice Islands Black Pepper or a Kraft dressing. Ten finalists are treated to an expenses-paid weekend at the Fetzer Tasting Room and Visitor Center in Mendocino, during which a $5,000 grand prize winner will be announced. Tips From a Higher Authority: Hebrew National’s “Traditional to Trendy” brochure is full of recipes made with Hebrew National franks, sausages and deli meats. Link, Patty and Chub: The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council is searching for recipes that demonstrate the versatility of precooked and fresh linked, patty or chub-packed meat sausage made of beef, pork, lamb, veal, chicken or turkey.
