Two adults and three children were injured Wednesday in Simi Valley when the driver of a Toyota minivan made a left turn in front of a tractor-trailer and was broadsided, police said.

Marina Kowalski, 30, of Simi Valley was driving her minivan east on Cochran Street when she tried to turn left onto Justin Avenue and was hit by the truck, which had been traveling west on Cochran, said Simi Valley Police Officer Corey Ward.

After the vehicles collided, the truck, driven by William Karrasch, 34, of Thousand Oaks, careened into a traffic signal at the intersection and the minivan hit a block wall, Ward said.
