What started as a backyard college graduation party ended in gunfire Saturday night in which a 17-year-old male was killed and another person was injured.

No arrests have been made and police Sunday would not identify the victims.

The 10:40 p.m. shooting occurred at a home in the 1300 block of South Rene Drive after four or five men attempting to crash the party were turned away, said Lt. Ken Hall.

The party crashers then fired several shots, hitting two people, Hall said. The 17-year-old died at a local hospital. No details on the second victim were available.

The gunmen fled in a gray car, Hall said. No further description was available.

On Sunday morning, two sisters who live at the house where the shooting took place said they did not know the victims or their attackers. The sisters said they and a couple of friends threw a party for about 60 people to celebrate their graduation from a college in Los Angeles.

“They just crashed the party and the next thing we know, they were fighting,” said one sister, who asked not to be identified. “We didn’t even know what was going on until the police and ambulances came.”
