Minor Leaguer From Tustin Hits 5 Homers in Row
Tustin’s Corey Parker, who had only 19 homers in a minor league career spanning 340 games, homered in five consecutive at-bats Thursday night for Bangor in a Northeast League doubleheader against Rhode Island.
Parker, 24, who played at UC Irvine, Orange Coast College and Foothill High, opened the first game with a run-scoring single, then homered in his next four at-bats. He finished the game five for five with 10 runs batted in and four runs scored.
He hit a bases-empty homer in his first at-bat in the second game, his only hit of the game.
Parker, spent four seasons in the Detroit Tigers organization before moving this season to Bangor, a member of the independent Northeast League. He’s batting .318 with seven homers and 22 RBIs in 16 games.
Bangor won the opener 16-5, Rhode Island the nightcap 7-5.
