A 45-year-old Westlake Village man suffered first- and second-degree burns over 25% of his body in a Saturday morning fire at his Landsburn Circle condominium, authorities said.

Christopher Mullane suffered burns to his arm, neck and face and was listed in serious condition at Westlake Village Medical Center.

The fire began about 12:30 a.m. in an upstairs bedroom of Mullane’s residence, part of a four-townhome complex at the Village Glen condominiums, said Joe Luna, a spokesman with the Ventura County Fire Department.

“The flames were shooting out 8 to 10 feet, so it was burning very intensely,” Luna said. Firefighters confined the blaze to the bedroom, he said.

The fire, which took about 45 minutes to extinguish, caused $50,000 in structural damage to the condominium and an estimated $10,000 loss to the room’s contents. Investigators are still trying to discover how the fire started, Luna said.

Five fire trucks, including one from Los Angeles County, responded to the blaze, he said.
