A six-month investigation by Simi Valley police has led to the arrest of an east county martial arts instructor on suspicion of selling methamphetamine, according to Police Sgt. Fred James.

Dean William Johnson, 35, of Simi Valley, was arrested about 2 p.m. Tuesday during a traffic stop on Sycamore Drive in Simi Valley, James said.

Officers obtained a search warrant and later entered Johnson’s house on Marilyn Street, where they allegedly found three grams of methamphetamine and weapons including two handguns and a pen gun.

In addition, James said, officers seized numerous “ninja-type deadly weapons,” such as throwing axes, throwing knives and throwing stars.

Johnson told police that he teaches karate to adults and children, James said.

Police undercover agents purchased 32 grams of methamphetamine from Johnson during the six-month investigation, officials said.

Value of the drugs seized during the investigation is $3,200, James said.

Johnson was released Tuesday pending further investigation.
