Woman Who Died in Car Wreck Identified

Joanne Welter was identified by Oxnard police as the 67-year-old Thousand Oaks woman who died in a two-car collision Thursday on the Rice Avenue onramp to the Ventura Freeway.
She was returning home after shopping at the Price Club with her husband, Harold Welter. As he made a left turn, their Cadillac El Dorado was broadsided by a GMC sport utility vehicle, said traffic investigator Randey Cole.
Joanne Welter died at the scene. Harold Welter was transported to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, where he was listed in satisfactory condition Friday with several broken ribs, a spokeswoman said.
The two occupants of the other vehicle were released after treatment for minor injuries from Community Memorial Hospital, Cole said.
