HOUSTON, WE’VE GOT A PROBLEM

Share

You know you’re a star when people with even the slightest association to you start publishing tell-all books. So if Whitney Houston didn’t already know she was a star, she does now with the coming publication of a book about her written by “a man who had a four-year affair with Whitney’s publicist,” according to the publisher.

“Good Girl, Bad Girl: An Insider’s Biography of Whitney Houston,” due from Birch Lane Press in October, was written by Kevin Ammons, the former boyfriend of Houston’s former publicist Regina Brown, who hasn’t had any contact with the singer for more than five years, according to Houston’s spokeswoman.

Still, the publisher promises the book will provide the “inside scoop” on such tantalizing topics as “the bitch beneath Whitney’s glamorous image” and on her “sexuality and why she really married Bobby Brown.” Preview copies of the book are not available yet, but a spokeswoman for Birch Lane says that it claims that Houston is bisexual, but that the singer denies it--something that’s been well covered in the celebrity press.

Houston was said to be unaware of the book. She’s currently finishing work on “The Preacher’s Wife,” a remake of the 1947 classic “The Bishop’s Wife” co-starring Denzel Washington and directed by Penny Marshall. Houston will get to work soon on new songs for the soundtrack, with an emphasis on gospel tracks. The movie and soundtrack album are due in December.
