Perkins, Gervais Lead Bullfrogs Past the Skates

Darren Perkins and Victor Gervais each had hat tricks as the Bullfrogs beat host Oakland, 12-8, in a Roller Hockey International game Friday night.

It was the seventh consecutive victory for the Bullfrogs (19-3-2), who tied a franchise and league record for victories in a season. They can set the mark Tuesday on the road against the Blades.

The Skates (12-8-2) took a 2-0 lead, but the Bullfrogs scored the next seven goals. Tom Menicci and Gervais each had two goals.

Oakland then scored three times in the second quarter to get as close as 7-5 but got no closer.

Perkins led the way, getting his three goals in the second half, two in the fourth quarter.

Anaheim, which was five for five on the power play, the Skates, 46-43.

Goaltender Rob Laurie, playing in his 12th consecutive game, improved to 13-2-2.

“Oakland played hard tonight,” Laurie said. “Our experienced guys led the way in the second half. We need the same effort Tuesday.”
