Seahawks Win in Oakland
Ronnie Harris returned a punt 78 yards for a touchdown and caught a 39-yard pass for another for the Seattle Seahawks, who beat the Raiders, 24-19, Thursday night in the newly expanded and refurbished Oakland Coliseum.
The game drew 38,219, well short of a 62,500-seat sellout.
Seattle (2-0) built a 21-0 lead in the first half, starting with Rick Mirer’s touchdown pass to Mack Strong late in the first quarter.
Harris scored Seattle’s second touchdown when he broke through Oakland’s punt coverage.
John Friesz, who relieved Mirer, threw a scoring pass to Harris, who beat James Trapp.
The Raiders (1-2) got a 20-yard field goal by Cole Ford, a 35-yarder by Jeff Jaeger, Joe Aska’s one-yard touchdown run and David Lingler’s 20-yard scoring pass to Andrew Glover.
