LAPD Officer Dies of Crash Injuries
A 36-year-old Los Angeles Police Department officer from Newport Beach died Tuesday, one day after his Jeep struck a tree, police and coroner’s officials said.
Michael Arthur Arvizo died at 1:30 p.m. at Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, coroner’s officials said.
The off-duty officer was traveling south on Jamboree Road south of Eastbluff Drive about 3:05 p.m. Monday when witnesses saw his green Jeep Cherokee drift into the center median and crash into a tree.
The air-bag deployed and the Jeep continued southbound before rolling and coming to rest in the road, police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
