A Taste of Greece at St. Paul’s Fest
St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church will host its 18th annual Grecian Festival this weekend featuring traditional food, live entertainment and family activities.
Festival-goers will be able to watch chefs prepare desserts and other culinary delights, including souvlakia, moussaka, gyro and galatoboureko. They will also be able to learn the kalamatianos, the national dance of Greece, by joining in free lessons.
The three-day event will also offer tours of the Byzantine-style church.
Organizers of the festival, which is the church’s biggest fund-raising event of the year, said they expect to draw 6,000 visitors.
“It adds a cultural dimension to the community plus it brings us together as neighbors,” said George Stephanides, the church’s pastor.
The festival will be from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday; from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday; and from noon to 9 p.m. Sunday. General admission will be $2, with children 10 and younger admitted free. Senior citizens will be admitted free from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday.
