Kinder to Sit Out Irish Opener

A leg injury will keep Notre Dame starting tailback Randy Kinder out of Thursday’s season opener against Vanderbilt.

Kinder pulled a quadricep muscle in his right leg during practice Sunday.

Coach Lou Holtz moved backup Robert Farmer to the starting position.

One of Miami lineman Ricky Perry’s court cases was delayed today until Sept. 30.

The offensive tackle was to stand trial on four felony charges and one misdemeanor charge stemming from a November 1995 incident in which he allegedly shoved a loaded gun under the chin of a man.
