Freshman Powers Waves Past Arizona

Freshman Jennifer Peterson scored a goal and assisted on another to help Pepperdine to a 3-0 victory over visting Arizona in a women’s soccer match Friday.

Peterson’s goal gave the Waves (2-1) a 1-0 lead at the 20-minute mark of the first half and her assist came nine minutes later on a Shelly Jeltema goal.

Jennifer Evans scored Pepperdine’s final goal three minutes into the second half.

Goalie Sumon Nicole had three saves for the Waves.

Arizona State 3, CS Northridge 0--Sharon Gillis, Julie Blagg and Sarah Blaska each scored for the Sun Devils as the Matadors (1-1) lost in the first round of the Loyola Marymount tournament.
