Obituaries : Ellen Marie Miller; Homemaker, Mother of 5

Ellen Marie Miller, a homemaker and 50-year resident of Ventura County, died Thursday at her home in Camarillo. She was 76.

Miller, the oldest of 10 children, was born in Los Angeles on Sept. 30, 1919.

She moved to Ventura County in 1946 and soon after met her husband of 50 years, Tom. They had five children, and after all had left home, Miller returned to college and fulfilled her dream of earning a bachelor’s degree in sociology.

Miller is survived by her husband; one son, Michael Thomas of Camarillo; four daughters, Valerie Perry of San Diego, Teresa Barker of Oxnard, Susan Orozco of Ventura and Stacie Stocks of Oxnard; four brothers, Joseph Volz of Laguna Beach, Thomas Volz of Phoenix, Phillip Volz of Santa Barbara and Vincent Volz of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; four sisters, Margaret Metz of Glendale, JoAnne Petterson of Sun City, Valerie Funk of West Covina and Alice Larson of San Jose, and four grandchildren.

A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary Magdalen Church in Camarillo. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura.

Friends may call from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Interment will be private.

Donations may be made in Miller’s name to the American Cancer Society of Ventura County.
