Sacramento Finally Solves the Splash

The Splash gave up only 10 shots on goal in the second half, but Sacramento scored four times to win, 9-6, in a Continental Indoor Soccer League game Saturday at Arco Arena.

The Splash dropped to 11-11, two games behind first-place San Diego in the Western Division. Second-place Sacramento (13-11) is one game behind the Sockers.

The Splash had 12 minutes of penalties, the Knights none, and Sacramento converted two of its three power-play chances against the league’s best penalty-killing unit.

The Knights scored three consecutive goals twice, after Mike Lynch gave the Splash an early lead, and after Sam George had cut the Splash deficit to one goal at halftime.

Danny Barber scored twice for the Splash, and Dale Ervine had three points, including a goal, for the second consecutive night. Bernie Lilavois also had a goal for the Splash, tying the score at 3-3.

Joey Kirk scored three goals for Sacramento and Michael Collins two as the Knights beat the Splash for the first time in three games.
