Tollway Will Be Topic at Coast Assn. Lunch
The San Joaquin Hills Corridor will be the topic of an Orange County Coast Assn. luncheon Thursday.
Betty Bailey, community relations representative for the Orange County Transportation Corridor Agencies, will speak about the new toll road from Laguna Niguel to John Wayne Airport.
The $1.5-billion, 15-mile corridor is expected to shave at least 30 minutes off a drive that now takes from 45 minutes to 1 1/2 hours, officials say.
The corridor, to be completed in December, is one of three major toll roads totaling 70 miles in South County. Under construction since 1993, the network is expected to be completed by 2003.
The 11:30 a.m. luncheon, which will cost $20, will be at the Newport Beach Country Club, 1600 E. Coast Highway, Newport Beach. The program will begin at 12:45 p.m.
The coast association, made up of citizens of Orange County’s coastal cities, monitors economic activities in the region.
