Homeowners of the Pine Cove condominiums on Cerritos Avenue in Stanton will receive $900,000 to repair alleged construction defects under a court settlement. Orange County Superior Court Judge William F. McDonald approved the agreement between the Pine Cove Homeowners Assn. and the builder, Pine Cone Partnership, and the general contractor, Frank De Luna and Co.

“The condominium project is yet another example of the worse of for-sale housing built in Orange County during the go-go days of the 1980s,” said Ken Kasdan, whose Irvine law firm represented the homeowners association. The 27 condominiums in the project were alleged to have inadequate fire protection and missing fire stops as well as leaking roofs and dry-rotted wood siding.
