Water District Cuts Monthly Bills by $4
Customers of the Irvine Ranch Water District will receive a $4 cut in their monthly bills beginning Tuesday.
The district will reduce the $4.90 flat fee for water service to $2.90 and the $7.90 charge for sewer service to $5.90. However, the charge for amount of water used will remain the same, at 64 cents per 748 gallons.
The Irvine Ranch Water District board decided to reduce fees this week after a report showed that the agency’s replacement fund earned more interest than officials had anticipated.
The report determined that the water district could return the money to customers in the form of a rate cut and still maintain an adequate balance in its replacement fund, which is used to repair pipelines, pumps and other equipment.
