Woods Aiming at Shootout but Entry Is Not Confirmed
Tiger Woods, who withdrew Wednesday from the PGA Tour’s Buick Challenge, said he will play in the Shark Shootout at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks on Nov. 12-17.
Woods joins an elite 20-player field that already has Mark Calcavecchia, Steve Elkington, Raymond Floyd, Peter Jacobsen, Curtis Strange and tournament host Greg Norman confirmed to play.
However, tournament spokesman Steve Brener cautioned that an appearance by Woods is not yet confirmed.
“He has to be invited by Greg [Norman],” Brener said. “And so far the two have not yet talked.”
The list of participants will be announced Oct. 14.
