Dana Hills Gets Quick Start on Way to Defeat of Santiago

Dana Hills scored 26 points in the first quarter, including touchdowns on its first two plays from scrimmage, en route to a 41-25 victory over Santiago on Friday.

On the first play from scrimmage, Dolphin tight end Steve Anstead took a reverse and dashed 72 yards for a touchdown.

Executing the wing-T offense, Santiago (2-1) retaliated on the ensuing possession, covering 88 yards in five plays. Running back Octavio Villa capped the drive with a one-yard touchdown plunge to tie the score, 7-7.

But on the next play from scrimmage, Dana Hills running back Julio Peraza broke an 80-yard touchdown run, putting the Dolphins ahead for good.

On its next possession, Dana Hills (2-1) drove 58 yards with quarterback Aaron Kaufman scoring on a one-yard run for a 20-7 advantage.

Kaufman then went to the air for the final score of the quarter, connecting with Dan Roberson on a 14-yard pass and a 26-7 lead.

Santiago had an opportunity to get back in the game early in the second quarter, but Villa fumbled on the Dolphin seven-yard line, ending a 65-yard drive.

After the fumble, Dana Hills marched 80 yards with Anstead scoring on a 26-yard touchdown run to make the score 34-7.

Forced to the air, Santiago quarterback Ben Tran completed 20 of 35 passes for 278 yards and two touchdowns. Villa led the Cavaliers in rushing with 94 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries.

Peraza led the Dolphins, rushing for 138 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries.
